(b) The Seismic Zoning Map of India is covered in IS 1893:2002 âCriteria for Earthquake Resistant Design of Structures â Part 1 General Provision and Buildings â Fifth Revisionâ, and Wind/cyclone hazard map is being revised on the basis of IS 875:1987 âCode of practice for design loads for buildings and structures â Part 3â, published by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). Building Materials & Technology Promotion Council (BMTPC) is revising its Vulnerability Atlas of India.
(c) The Government of India under the Ministry of Home Affairs has adopted a holistic multi-disciplinary approach for disaster management which inter-alia includes disaster prevention, mitigation, preparedness and responsible measures for dealing with future disasters.
