Question : Wages of Workers in Textile Industry

(a) the details of the programmes launched by the Government to enhance the wages of workers in the textile industry;

(b) the number of Greenfield Textile Parks under the Scheme for Integrated Textile Park (SITP) or through other schemes that have been completed in the country, State-wise;

(c) the details of the benefits these Greenfield Textile Parks offer to the skilled and non-skilled workers; and

(d) the steps taken to promote silk industry in Madhya Pradesh along with promotion of Chanderi saree?

Statement in reply to Lok Sabha Starred Question No. *114 for answer on 09.02.2022 by SHRI RAJENDRA DHEDYA GAVIT: DR. KRISHNA PAL SINGH YADAV regarding “Wages of Workers in Textile Industry”.

(a): In order to promote employment and address the shortage of skilled workers in the Textile sector, Government of India has launched the Scheme for Capacity Building in Textile Sector (SAMARTH) to provide a demand-driven and placement oriented skilling programme. It incentivizes the efforts of the industry in creating jobs in the organized textile and related sectors. Besides, it promotes skilling and skill up-gradation in the traditional sectors through respective sectoral divisions/organizations of Ministry of Textiles. It helps to provide livelihood to all the sections of the society across the country.

(b): Under the Scheme for Integrated Textile Park (SITP), 27 Greenfield parks have been completed. State wise list of completed park is given at Annexure.

(c): SITP is being implemented with a view to increase investment, generate employment opportunities and boost exports in the textile sector. The primary objective of SITP is to provide financial assistance to a group of entrepreneurs to establish state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities in a cluster for setting up their textile units, conforming to international environmental and social standards, SITPs are expected to mobilize private investment in the textile sector and generate fresh employment opportunities. The Scheme targets industrial clusters and locations with high growth potential.

(d): To promote the silk industry, Government of India is implementing “Silk Samagra’ scheme. During the last five years, an amount of Rs.461.01 lakhs has been allocated/released under Silk Samagra scheme to Madhya Pradesh.
