(a): 128.14 million tonnes of Organic Cotton was exported from Maharashtra to EU in the year 2008-09
and 149.85 million tonnes in the year 2009-10
(b): Government of India launched the National Programme on Organic Production (NPOP) in the year 2000 aimed
at enhancing production and for accreditation certification system recognized by European Commission and
Switzerland as equivalent to their country standards.
