Question : Homeopathic Medical Colleges

(a) whether the Government has conducted any study regarding the number of Homoeopathic medical colleges in the country;
(b) if so, whether their number is sufficient to meet the needs in the country; and
(c) whether the Government proposes to consider establishing adequate number of Homoeopathic colleges in the country especially in Odisha in order to promote Indian systems of medicine in view of the priority being accorded to provide the affordable healthcare services to the increasing population: and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b) No study has been conducted regarding the number of Homoeopathic Medical Colleges in the country. The National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH) is Maintaining the list of approved/recognized Homoeopathic Colleges. There are total 250 Homoeopathic Medical Colleges (including 03 new colleges opened in academic year 2021-22 as on 29.11.2021) across the country. The State/Union Territory-wise list along with the number of UG and PG seats is attached at Annexure I.
(c) & (d) Establishing Homoeopathic Medical College comes under the purview of concerned State government. The State Government/ Private bodies can apply to Medical Assessment and Rating Board for Homoeopathy, NCH under the Establishment of New Medical College (Opening of New or Higher Course of Study or Training and Increase of Admission Capacity by a Medical College) Regulations, 2011 (Amendments Regulations, 2018).
Further, in Odisha at present there are four (04) functioning Government Homoeopathic Medical colleges.
