Question : Reduction in User Charges

(a) whether the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) has directed for a reduction in user charges at the Delhi international airport?

(b) if so, the details thereof indicating the present charges and the cuts proposed therein?

(c) the time by which the said order is proposed to be implemented?

(d) the benefits likely to accrue to the passengers using the airport?

(e) the manner in which the Government proposes to ensure that the benefits of the said cuts are passed on to the passengers?

(a) & (b):Yes, Madam. Airport Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) vide Order No. 40/2015-16 dated 10.12.2015 has determined the Aeronautical tariffs in respect of Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi for the second control period (01.04.2014 to 31.03.2019). Details of the User charges are annexed:

(c): Hon''ble High Court of Delhi has permitted Delhi International Airport limited (DIAL) to charge the tariff applicable for the first Control period pending disposal of appeal by Airport Economic Regulatory Authority Appellate Tribunal (AERAAT) in respect of the tariffs determined by AERA for the first control period.

(d) & (e): The Airfare are not regulated by the Government and market forces determine the same. However, with the reduction in the cost of operation, the airfare are expected to be affected to the advantage of passengers.
