Question : REGULARISATION OF SERVICES OF CASUAL LABOURERS

(a) whether the Railways have imposed a condition of 10 years service in the ash/coal handling work for regularization/absorption of services of casual labourers serving in some of its divisions particularly Guntakal Division in Andhra Pradesh;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor;

(c) whether the Railways propose to make some changes in this strict regulation being imposed by them which has deprived most of these casual labourers from an opportunity to be absorbed/regularised in the various Railway Divisions; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b) : Yes, Sir. Based on the Honourable Supreme Court`s Judgement in Writ Petition No. 433/1998, instructions have been issued to all Indian Zonal Railways including Guntakal Division in Andhra Pradesh.

(c) : No, Sir.

(d) : Does not arise.
