(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the efforts made by the Union Government for creating healthy competition among the State Governments with regard to sanitation?

Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF DRINKING WATER & SANITATION
(SHRI RAMESH CHANDAPPA JIGAJINAGI)

(a) and (b) 41.14% Villages and 54.02% villages of Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh have declared themselves as Open Defecation Free (ODF) as on 6.2.2017 as per the online Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) of Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin). This is better than the National average of 25.62% achievement in villages declared ODF.

(c) The Union government regularly holds discussions/workshops with the State Governments where the relative performance of States on various parameters of sanitation is reviewed and good practices cross-shared. An online dashboard at the Ministry’s website also displays relative performance in real time. Cross visits of States are also facilitated. Ranking of States/districts is also carried out through third party evaluations to promote healthy competition.
