Question : SIX LANING OF AHMEDABAD MUMBAI NATIONAL HIGHWAY



(a) whether the approval was granted for conversion of the Ahmedabad-Mumbai National Highway from 4 lanes to 6 lanes;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the sections not converted from 4 lanes to 6 lanes so far along with the reasons therefor; and

(d) the time by which Surat to Brodara route is likely to be converted from 4 lanes to 6 lanes along with the amount allocated for this work during the last three years?

(a) to (d) The Committee on Infrastructure headed by Prime Minister has approved 6-laning of 6,500 km of existing 4-lane National Highways. This would include the entire length of 5846 km of Golden Quadrilateral having Ahmedabad-Mumbai and Surat to Vadodara stretches also. The details are under discussion with the Planning Commission.
