Question : MSME Units

(a) the norms/criteria laid down by the Government to register various units under Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the country;

(b) the details of the functional and nonfunctional Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) units in the country at present, State/UT-wise;

(c) whether the Government has conducted any review/survey of the number of MSME and the persons employed there in the country during the last three years and the current year;

(d) if so, the details and the findings thereof along with the achievements made in employment generation for rural and tribal people including women during the said period, State/UT-wise; and

(e) the details of the share of MSME products in the exports from the country during the said period?

(a): As per provisions/criteria laid down in the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Development (MSMED) Act, 2006, the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) are classified in two Classes namely; manufacturing and service enterprises and they are defined on the basis of investment limit in plant and machinery / equipment. The investment limits are as under:

Micro Enterprises Rs.25 lakh
Small Enterprises Rs.5 crore
Medium Enterprises Rs.10 crore
Service Sector Enterprises
Micro Enterprises Rs.10 lakh
Small Enterprises Rs.2 crore
Medium Enterprises Rs.5 crore

(b): As per 4th All India Census of MSME conducted by the Ministry of MSME, the number of functional and non-functional registered MSMEs in the country are 15,63,974 and 4,96,355 respectively. State -wise details are given in Annexure- I.

(c) & (d): No such survey has been conducted by the Ministry.

(e): The share of MSME products in the exports from the country during last three years is as follows:
