(a) the number of districts covered under the scheme for providing financial assistance for setting up of District Institutes Education and Training in Bihar and Orissa;

(b) the amount sanctioned and provided for the purpose during the last three years and the current year; and

(c) the time by which the remaining districts are likely to be covered under the scheme in the States?

(a) 33 districts in Bihar and 13 districts in Orissa have been covered under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Restructuring & Reorganisation of Teacher Education.

(b) The amount provided to Orissa in the last three years and the current year under the scheme is as under:

1997-98	Rs.300.00 lakhs	1998-99	Rs.228.21 lakhs	1999-2000	Rs.342.59 lakhs	2000-2001	Rs.359.45 lakhs


(c) It is envisaged that by the end of IX Plan 500 districts in the country would be covered under the Scheme. The coverage of remaining districts in Bihar and Orissa would depend upon the achievement of satisfactory progress in implementation of Scheme in the districts already covered in these States.
