Question : CHOCOLATE MANUFACTURING UNITS

(a) the details of existing chocolate manufacturing units in Madhya Pradesh;

(b) whether any permission have been given by the Government for setting up new chocolate manufacturing units including such units of Makson Limited Company in Madhya Pradesh;

(c) if so, the details thereof;

(d) the details of ingredients used in the production of chocolate;

(e) whether there are reports of use of substances in the manufacturing of chocolate which is generally found in beef, meat and pork, if so, the details thereof; and

(f) the action taken by the Government against such chocolate manufacturing units?

THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES (SADHVI NIRANJAN JYOTI)

(a): As per the information available from the Government of Madhya Pradesh and Central Licensing Authority, 26 chocolate manufacturing units exist in Madhya Pradesh.

(b):No license/ registration has been issued in the name of Makson Limited Company in Madhya Pradesh under Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

(c): Does not arise.

(d): The standard of chocolate is notified in regulation 2.7.4 of Food Safety & Standards (Food Product Standards & Food Additives Regulations, 2011). The same is at ANNEXURE.

(e): No such cases have been reported.

(f): Does not arise.
