Question : PROMOTION OF NEW INDUSTRIAL UNITS



(a): whether the Khadi and Village Industries Commission has been assigned the responsibility to promote new industrial units for generating employment opportunities in the country, State-wise;

(b): the number of new industrial units promoted during the last three years in the country, State-wise

(c): the number of people likely to get employment as a result thereof; and

(d): the target fixed for opening new industrial units through the incentives given for this purpose during the current year?

MINISTER OF SMALL SCALE INDUSTRIES & AGRO AND RURAL INDUSTRIES ( SHRI MAHABIR PRASAD )

(a): Yes, Sir. The Government through the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has been implementing the Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP) with a view to generate employment opportunities in rural areas as well as small towns in the country.

(b)&(c): The State-wise number of new industrial units promoted and the likely number of employment generated under the Rural Employment Generation Programme(REGP) during the last three years is available at Annexure-I.

(d): The state-wise number of industrial units targeted during the current year is available at annexure-II.
