Question : Preserving the Dying Art

(a) whether the Government is planning to step up the handicraft and Kheta embroidery technical Training programme in the district of Kishanganj to preserve the dying art;

(b) if so, the details thereof?

(c) whether the Government is planning to grant more funding to expand the training centers in the remote areas of Kishanganj; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): Yes sir, Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles has established a Handicrafts training centre at Pothia Block, Kishanganj under Samarth Scheme (Scheme for Capacity Building in Textile Sector) to conduct Handicraft training program.

In the Handicrafts training centre Kishanganj, 1 Handicrafts technical training program in Traditional Hand Embroiderer (Kheta Embroidery) has been successfully conducted by Handicrafts Service Centre Madhubani, Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) benefitting 28 artisans at Pothia block, Kishanganj under Samarth Scheme.

(c) & (d): Yes sir, the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles has already sanctioned 1 additional Handicrafts Technical Training Program in Traditional Hand Embroiderer (Kheta Embroidery) at Pothia Block, Kishanganj under Samarth Scheme.
