(a) & (b): The Scheduled Tribes and other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of
Forest Rights) Act, 2006, extends to the whole of India except the State of Jammu &
Kashmir. As per the information collected from the State/ UT Governments, till 31st
January, 2013, more than 32.45 lakh claims have been filed and more than 12.80 lakh
titles have been distributed under the Act. More than 16 thousand titles were ready
for distribution. The State/ UT-wise details are given in the Annexure.
(c): As would be observed from the details given in the Annexure, a total number of
12,80,100 titles have been distributed under the Act till 31st January, 2013. These
include 12,62,218 individual and 17,882 community titles. The State/ UT-wise break-up
of the individual and community titles distributed under the Act is also given in the Annexure.
(d) & (e): No such plan is under consideration of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs as the
Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act,
2006 does not envisage award of lease under the land revenue to forest rights holders under
the Act.
