Question : PNG Supply

(a) whether the Government is using/ proposes to use PNG for the supply of cooking gas to every household and if so, the details thereof along with the number of cities where only PNG is being used and the funds spent thereon till date, State/ UT-wise;
(b) whether all the big cities in Bihar including Patna are deprived of PNG/CNG and the State Government has sent any proposal to provide the PNG/CNG in Bihar and if so, the details thereof along with the current status of the said proposal; and
(c) whether the Government has explored the feasibility of domestic and industrial PNG in the city of Ludhiana along with the existing infrastructure for Industrial areas and if so, the details thereof along with any feedback from entrepreneurs in the region regarding their acceptance of the PNG?

(a) to (c ) Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), the authority to grant authorization to the entities for the development of City Gas Distribution (CGD) network, identifies the Geographical Areas (GAs) for the development of CGD network depending on the natural gas pipeline connectivity/natural gas availability and techno-commercial feasibility. The selected entity markets both Piped Natural Gas (PNG) / Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) based on the work plan and techno-economic feasibility. As on 1.07.2018, 44.43 lakh households have been provided Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections in India.
PNGRB has authorised Patna in Bihar to GAIL (India) Ltd. for CGD development on 28.03.2018. In addition to Patna, PNGRB has covered Aurangabad, Kaimur, Rohtas, Begusarai, Gaya and Nalanda Districts in 9th round of CGD bidding.
PNGRB has authorized M/s. Jay Madhok Energy Private Limited for development of CGD network in Ludhiana GA with an approved work plan
