Unchahar-III transmission system

for Ministry of Power | Date - 17-10-2007

Following are the details regarding the 220 KV power sub-station of Powergrid Corporation launched in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh:

THE PROJECT

Transmission Lines 1.      Unchahar-Raebareli 220 kV S/C Line.

2.       LILO of Unchahar-Lucknow/Chinhat 220 kV D/C Line at Raebareli.

Substations

3.   New Raebareli 220/132 kV, 2x100 MVA (POWERGRID) Substation.

FEATURES

l    To improve power supply in Raebareli and surrounding areas a 220/132 kV substation at Raebareli with a transformation capacity of 2x100 MVA substation along with Unchahar-Raebareli 220 kV interconnection has been commissioned successfully under Unchahar- III transmission system.

l    Supply of power to Raebareli at 220 kV which was earlier through 132/33 kV system, would provide additional transformation capacity of 200 MVA and  would enable transfer of more power to Raebareli and its surrounding areas.

l    Direct connection of Raebareli with Central Sector Generating Station, Unchahar Generation Complex (1050 MW) would ensure quality supply of power in a reliable and secure manner to the area.

l    Connectivity of Raebareli to the National Grid.

POWERGRID IN UTTAR PRADESH

A) Existing transmission facilities

To supply power from Central Generating stations to the State of Uttar Pradesh, POWERGRID has established large transmission network in the State. Summary of POWERGRID transmission works in Uttar Pradesh is given below:

l    about 12000 ckt kms of EHV lines

l    13 EHV Substations

l    5200 MVA transformation capacity

Uttar Pradesh is connected to Eastern and Western regions through inter-regional power transfer capacity of 7100 MW.

For improvement of quality of power supply, State-of-the-Art technologies like High Voltage DC transmission (HVDC), Static Var Compensator (SVC), Thyristor Controlled Series Compensation are also implemented.

B) Ongoing/Proposed Schemes

To draw power from ongoing/future power projects, POWERGRID has taken up following transmission schemes in Uttar Pradesh.

l    about 7800 ckt kms of EHV lines.

l    3 EHV Substations (Fatehpur, Lucknow, Bareilly).

l    Upgradation of Meerut, Balia, Agra Substation at 765 kV level.

l    19500 MVA transformation capacity.

l    Inter-regional power transfer capacity of Uttar Pradesh with Eastern & Western Region is planned to be enhanced to more than 20,000 MW.

l Two nos. of High Voltage DC Transmission lines are planned in Uttar Pradesh; 2500 MW Balia-HVDC bipole & 6000 MW  NER-Agra HVDC bipole.
