US Ambassador calls on Minister of Rural Development

The US Ambassador in India, Timothy J Roemer called on the Union Rural Development Minister, Dr. C.P. Joshi here today. The two shared the vision of Indo-US co-operation in the field of rural development. Dr. Joshi highlighted the efforts made to streamline the functioning of various schemes in the country with the involvement of civil society, experts, academicians and premier agencies both at the national as well as international level. He said that the measure are being taken to strengthen the implementation of the flagship schemes for the benefit of rural population in India. Mr. Roemer evinced keen interest in the measures undertaken by the Government of India and appreciated the efforts in this direction. US Ambassador was accompanied by the USAID Director, Martha Erin Soto.
