Two New JNNURM Projects for Uttar Pradesh

The Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee, (CSMC) of the submission on Urban Infrastructure and Governance (UIG) under Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewable Mission (JNNURM) approved Sewerage Project for area and Storm water drainage for

population of – area but there is no sewage system in the – area which has 40% of the cities population and is growing fast and will have a population of 5.27 by 2010 and generate 63.264 MLD sewage every day. The project envisages the construction of a sewerage network of 142.58 . This project along with the JBIC project will ensure that the Trans – area that is urbanized will be fully covered by a sewerage system and each of the households including the slums and area inhabited by the Urban poor will be connected with this system.

There is need for comprehensive drainage project to prevent loss to property during monsoons. Four drainage zones in this project will cover 2391.85 ha of catchments area through RCC drains 23.718 kilometers, brick masonry drains of 36.895 and repairing 11.865 of existing drains. The project ensures the coverage of 100% of the city area including slums and areas inhabited by minorities and poor. The project will be implemented by and completed in 30 months by June 2011
