Top Chinese Steel Company Interested in Joint Ventures in India.

A delegation from the Chinese Steel major, Wuhan, today called on the Minister of State for Steel Dr. Akhilesh Das and expressed its interest for joint ventures in India. A four member delegation from the company led by its chairman Mr. Deng Qilin apprised the minister of their technological capability in manufacturing of highgrade steel and special steel particularly for use in the automotive sector. They appreciated the growing Indian steel market and the need for joint venture in pelletisation and production of high grade steel.

The Chairman of Steel Authority Shri S. R. Roongta who was present during the meeting said, SAIL is embarking on an expansion plan and there is ample scope for both the companies to cooperate. Dr. Das asked both sides to work out the modalities for cooperation.

Wuhan is the largest state owned steel company in China with a capacity of 20 million tones. It has expertise in making automotive steel and high grade steel for specialized use.
