The Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Thiru T.R. Baalu has approved road improvement works in various stretches of Katpadi-Vallimalai Road, a Major District Road (MDR) in Vellore District in the state of Tamil Nadu at a cost of about Rs.835.50 lakhs.
An amount of Rs. 885.50 lakhs has been approved for Improvement of Riding Quality (IRQ) work of existing 2-lane pavement in 11.2 km length of the road from Katpadi to Thathireddypalli and widening of road at Soudanathangal village in Vellore District to two lanes. The Katpadi-Vallimalai Road is linking major Railway junction Katpadi with important Pilgrim center Vallimalai and connects other Pilgrim centers like Ponnai Vinayagapuram, Thenkal Ashramam and Thiruthani Murugar Temple. This road is very important one and was recently upgraded to MDR.
