RAJYA SABHA

The nuclear power capacity addition target for the XI plan (2007-12) is 3160 MW.

A capacity of 220 MW has been added by completion of RAPP-5 at Rawatbhata, Rajasthen. Another 220MW is expected to be added trough completion of RAPP Unit- 6 by March 2010. Further capacity addition through progressive completion of Kaiga Unit-4 (220MW), twin units of kudankulam Nuclear Power Project 1&2 (2000MW) and Fast Breeder Reactor (500 MW) at Kalpakkam which are in advanced stages of completion. They are likely to be completed in the remaining two years of the plan period.

This was stated by Shri Prithviraj Chavan, the Minister of State (I/C) Science &Technology and Earth Sciences in the Rajya Sabha today.
