Target Again Exceeded under Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme of the Ministry of Minority Affairs More than 34,70,000 Scholarships Awarded till 31ST January

The target has once again been exceeded in the implementation of the Pre-matric Scholarship Scheme of the Ministry of Minority Affairs. This Scheme is for the benefit of students belonging to minority communities from class I to class X and was started in 2008-09. As per the latest data available with the Ministry of Minority Affairs, as on 31st January 2012, a total of 34,71,017 students have been awarded Pre-matric scholarships; whereas the target fixed by the Ministry under this Scheme was 34 lakh scholarships. For the award of these 34,71,017 Pre-matric scholarships, the Ministry of Minority Affairs has sanctioned Rs. 357.79 crore (as on 31.1.2012).

Last Financial Year also the target was exceeded as against a target of 20 lakh scholarships, a total of 44,21,571 scholarships were awarded.
