Sukhdev, Rajguru and Bhagat Singh left leaning intellectuals: Reddy

The Union Urban Development Minister, Shri S. Jaipal Reddy said that martyrs, Sukhdev, Rajguru and Bhagat Singh were left leaning intellectuals and committed secularists. Speaking at a function in the Capital today, Shri Reddy stated that these martyrs pleaded for a Republic and wanted India to be a democracy and prosperous nation. The minister stated that the greatest trinity of these martyrs were inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and Carl Marx, but did not believe in dogmatism. These freedom fighters wanted India to be industrialized and self-reliant, he added. Shri Jaipal Reddy said that Sukhdev, Rajguru and Bhagat Singh were modern in outlook and were no narrow nationals. He called upon the youngsters to pay tributes to these martyrs by enhancing the glory of them in the comity of nations. Shri Reddy urged the students to take inspiration from the martyrs and move forward in the era of globalization.

Later, the minister unveiled the portrait of Shaheed Sukhdev.
