Subodh Kant Sahai released a book titled ‘IT for Masses’ – a North Eastern perspective

The Minister of State for Food Processing Industries (Independent Charge), Shri Subodh Kant Sahai has released a book titled, ‘Information Technology for Masses’ – a North Eastern perspective here today.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sahai said that this Book highlighted the problems being faced especially in eight States, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. He said that with the level of literacy and education in the region, IT is bound to play a key role in the region’s development. Since the nature is bountiful in this region, food processing industry may be brought on the IT platform. With IT, it will be possible for the rural-based products to market local products on IT platforms.

The Minister said that the book offers interesting reading and may help in expanding the IT connectivity in this region, which is now poised for a leap in international trade. The Government’s policy of looking east will really take off, if the connectivity is established. The book aims at promoting a multi-dimensional approach for using this hi-tech sector for convergence of resources and marketing of rural products.

The book has been written by Shri Gopal Mishra, Senior Journalist, who has worked for The Pioneer, The Times of India, Jansatta, The Sunday Mail and The Gulf News.
