Strategic Partnership with Japan
The Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs Shrimati Preneet Kaur informed members in reply to a question in Lok Sabha today that India and Japan established a Strategic and Global Partnership in 2006. During the recent visit of Prime Minister Abe, both sides reaffirmed their resolve to further deepen the Strategic and Global Partnership as two democracies in Asia sharing universal values such as freedom, democracy and rule of law, and to contribute jointly to the peace, stability and prosperity of the region and the world. Japan is at the heart of Indiaâs Look East Policy and is also a key partner in our economic development. Thus, the partnership between a strong and economically resurgent Japan and a transforming and rapidly growing India can be an effective force for good in the region.
