The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has cleared the proposals worth Rs. 5.16 crore for providing Grant-in-Aid through Sports Authority of India (SAI) to five States for organizing Sports Tournaments under Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan (PYKKA) during the year 2008-2009. The details of the proposals cleared State-wise are as follows:

The proposal cleared above are for conducting Annual Competitions in 100% of Block, District and State level Panchayats in the States concerned. Under the PYKKA scheme, Rs. 3 lakh as 100% Central Grant to each district and Rs. 50,000 as 100% Central Grant to each Block is envisaged for the Annual Competition Grant. Regarding Prize Money in the competitions, the Scheme provides for Rs. 25,000 / 15,000 / 5,000 as 100% Central Grant to the first three Village Panchayats at Block level Tournaments and Rs. 50,000 / 30,000 / 10,000 as 100% Central Grant to the first three Block Panchayats at District level Tournaments have been provided for.
The Scheme envisaged of providing Competition Grant at District level / Block level and State level to the State Government and the Union Territories through Netaji Subhash National Institute of Sports, Patiala, the Sports Authority of India.
It may be recalled under the PYKKA programme, financial assistance shall be given to the Village & Block Panchayats for the one time Capital Grant for development of Sports Infrastructure, Annual Acquisition Grant, Annual Operational Grant besides Annual Competition Grant for Block, District & State and for the Prize Money.
