The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has been releasing grants to State/Union Territory Governments to provide insurance cover to each family head of identified 75 Primitive Tribal Groups (PTGs) through “Janashree Bima Yojana†of Life Insurance Corporation of
Payment of Rs.50,000/- to nearest kith and kin of life insured in case of accidental death or permanent disability due to accident;
Payment of Rs.20,000/- to the nearest kith and kin in case of natural death;
Payment of Rs.25,000/- in case of partial disability; and
Educational grant of Rs.300/- per quarter for 2 children studying in class IX to XII.
This was stated by the Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, Dr. Rameshwar Oraon in a reply to a question by ShriAvinash Rai Khanna in Lok Sabha today. Details of State-wise funds released for Janashree Bima Yojana are given below:
