Snag in Missile Weapon System

During the acceptance trials, the Russian built Krivak-III class frigate. INS Talwar developed a snag in the Shtil-I surface-to-air missile weapons system.

The delivery of the first frigate, INS Talwar, was delayed on account of unsatisfactory performance of surface-to-air missile weapon system. It was delivered 13 months after the original delivery date. Negotiations are in progress for assessing the Liquidated Damages as provided in the contract.

This information was given by the Defence Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee in a written reply to Shri Anandrao V Adsul and Shri Adhalrao Patil Shivajirao in Lok Sabha today.
