Shri Dinesh Rai, Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) has said that Skill Development is the watchword for rapid growth in the MSME sector. Shri Rai said, government¡¦s focus in recent years has been skill development for our teeming millions to achieve all round growth. He was speaking after launching National Small Industries Corporation¡¦s (NSIC) International SME Development Web Portal here last night. Shri Rai said, the present rate of growth in MSME sector is 12 per cent. This sector accounts for 45 per cent of the manufacturing output and around 40 per cent of the total export of the country. Appreciating NSIC¡¦s relentless effort in supporting MSMEs Shri Rai said, the new portal www.nsicpartners.com will go a long way in bringing information at the doorstep of SMEs worldwide.
Speaking on the occasion Shri H.P. Kumar, CMD, NSIC said, the portal has been launched with the active participation of 17 international SME partner institutions/countries like Small Business (BC), Vancouver, Canada, Taipei WTC,Taiwan, Small Business Corporation, South Korea, Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, Fiji and The Ministry of the Economy Organization, Mexico. Shri Kumar said, many more organizations/countries will be brought under its fold in near future. The portal can be accessed free of cost, Shri Kumar added.
The target beneficiaries of the portal are:
I. SMEs of all the identified countries including India, who are looking for sustainable collaborations and partnership with their counterparts.
II. SME support institutions of identified countries.
III. Consulates, High Commissions & Ministries
Iv. Consulates dealing with international projects and products.
Dignitaries from various Embassies and Business Associations were also present on this occasion.
