Shri Chandra Sekhar Sahu distributes National Rural Employment Guarantee Cards to Tribals in Nabrangpur District of Orissa on May Day

The Minister of State for Labour & Employment Shri Chandra Sekhar Sahu distributed National Rural Employment Guarantee Cards to beneficiaries of the scheme in nine blocks of Nabrangpur district of Orissa on the occasion of May Day, today. Addressing the May Day rallies at Nabrangpur and Umarkoat localities in the naxal-infested district, Shri Sahu said that the government is planning to bring landmark legislation for million of workers in the unorganised sector. At the rallies, which were attended by workers and farmers belonging to tribal communities, Shri Sahu explained the significance of the Labour Day. He highlighted the schemes and measures taken by the Central Government for workers’ welfare. The Minister expressed confidence that the measures will help in improving the economic condition of the local people and remove the backwardness of the area. The local MLA, Shri Habibullah Khan, Zila parishad Chairman and other local leaders and district officials attended the functions to mark the May Day.
