As on date against an authorized strength of 3278 pilots in the Indian Air Force, 3068 pilots are in position. The present vacancy of 210 pilots does not affect the operation requirements. The main reason for these present vacancies is shortfall in induction of pilots. The vacancies in the forces are filled up as per normal procedure.
The improvement in the job profile of the pilots is a continuous process keeping in view the job specific requirements and operational necessity.
