Second Day of “Vanaj”- National Tribal Festival- 2015

The second day of first National Tribal Festival “VANAJ”-2015 witnessed a new stage when Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Shri Jual Oram inaugurated its new pack of activities at the Indira Gandhi National Center for Arts (IGNCA) here in New Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion the minister said it is just like a visit to past especially in the tribal weekly haats for entertainment as well as purchase of daily need goods from the village markets. He said this week is a unique opportunity for the city dwellers to have a direct contact with their tribal brothers hailing from the far flung areas of our country. The minister said such contact will oly generate a feeling of one ness for our diversified cultures and societies.

At the Indira Gandhi National Center for Arts (IGNCA) a replica of rural tribal market as well as plateform for the cultural presentation is set up where visitors have an access to both the rural crafts, herbs and medicines. All this has been done to to show case the rich diversity of Tribal culture, art, painting, music, dance, tribal medicine, tribal food, and a special attraction- tribal cuisine.

Later in the afternoon Documentary Films titled “Lodha – A Sylvan Community” and “Prakriti Ki Santan – Mising Tribe” will be screened at the IGNCA auditorium from 3pm to 5.30 pm. Also there is a seminar being organized from 3.30 p.m to 5.00 p.m where‐in eminent panelists will deliberate on the topic ‘Traditional Tribal Knowledge, Wisdom and Skills’.
