The Ministry of Women and Child Development is implementing a scheme namely, ‘An Integrated programme for Street Children’ for prevention of destitution and withdrawal of children from a life on the street. The scheme provides shelter, nutrition, health care, sanitation and hygiene, safe drinking water, education and recreational facilities and protection against abuse and exploitation to these children. The number of beneficiaries during last three years is available on website of the Ministry, viz. www.wcd.nic.in. The details are as under:

This was stated by Smt. Renuka Chowdhury, Minister for Women and Child Development in a reply to a question by Shri Surendra Lath in Rajya Sabha today. She further stated that the funds are mostly utilized through non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and educational institutions. The details of NGOs who were provided financial assistance under the scheme is available on website of the Ministry.
