The Steel Authority of India Limited(SAIL) has further extended the Voluntary Retirement Scheme 2004-05 for its employees upto 31st January 2005. The scheme which provide for lump-sum payment of VR compensation was opened initially for a period of three months w.e.f. 1st October 2004. The Company has reported that 1120 employees have been separated under the Scheme. SAIL has an overall target of bringing down employees strength from the present level of 1,29,600 to 1,20,000.
