Research Station at Arctic Zone

LOK SABHA

A research base named “Himadri” for carrying out studies in the disciplines like; Glaciology, Atmospheric sciences & Biological sciences for a total of eight scientists has already been established by India at the International Arctic Research Base at Ny-Alesund, Svalbard, Norway. This Research Base was formally inaugurated on the 1st July 2008.

This was stated by Shri Prithviraj Chavan, the Minister of State (I/C) for Science and Technology in the Lok Sabha today.
