Redevelopment of Kidwai Nagar (East) for construction of General Pool Residential Accommodation

The Union Cabinet today approved a proposal of the Ministry of Urban Development for re-development of Kidwai Nagar (East) for construction of Residential Accommodation for Government employees. The project will be implemented through NBCC, a Government of India undertaking, in four years. Approximately 4550 modern, seismologically sound and technically advanced housing units of various types will be constructed in place of the existing 2331 old houses.

At present, there is an acute shortage of Government housing, especially in the National Capital Region. Thus, there is need to undertake redevelopment programme to replace the old buildings with new ones and further to augment the housing stock by optimum utilization of the existing land resources.
