Following is the statement issued by the Power Ministry:
“It has been reported in a section of the press that Secretary, Ministry of Power has stated that the Power Finance Corporation (PFC) which is the nodal agency for bidding for Ultra Mega Power Projects has sought clarification on the low tariff of Sasan Power Project through M/s Ernst and Young. However, the clarifications that have been sought do not relate to tariff. The procedure of allotment of Ultra Mega Power Projects seeks to attain market determined tariffs. Tariff issues are handled in the CERC and the PFC has been trying to obtain the lowest possible tariffs for the power procurers.
This clarification had been given to the PTI last evening itself.”
