for President's Secretariat | Date - 05-09-2004

The President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has condemned the acts of terror in Russia including the latest one in which many children were killed. In a message to the President of the Russian Federation, H.E. Mr. Vladimir V. Putin, Dr. Abdul Kalam said:

“We have been following with concern the series of unfortunate events in Russia over the last few days. Each of these acts of terror deserves to be condemned without reservation.

The latest incident involving the siege of a school in North Ossetia defies all norms of civilized behavior. There is no justification for taking innocent lives. It is shocking that a large number of children should also have become the victim of this brutal act of terrorism.

Our thoughts and prayers go out for the families of those killed, and for the recovery of the injured. The Government of India and its people feel deeply for the hurt and pain that must have been caused to the people of Russia due to these acts of terror. We are convinced that this global menace requires global efforts. Only then can it be truly challenged and checked.”
