The President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and the Prime Minister, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee have greeted the nation on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, which is being celebrated tomorrow.

In his message, Dr. Kalam said, “on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, I extend my greetings and good wishes to all our people in India and abroad.

On this day, let us take a few moments from our daily lives and introspect on how the teachings of Lord Mahavir can make us better human beings and how we can actualise this great saint’s philosophy of the three- fold path of right conduct, right faith and right knowledge. Above all we must make efforts to follow non-violence in our lives and take complete responsibility for our actions. May this festival inspire all of us”.

In a separate message, Shri Vajpayee said that Mahavir Jayanti reminds mankind to tread the path of peace and non-violence. May the universal appeal of Lord Mahavir’s teachings continue to guide humanity on the right path, Shri Vajpayee added.
