Pre-Matric Scholarships to Muslim Children

More than 95 lakh Muslim children have benefited under the Pre-matric Scholarship Scheme of the Ministry of Minority Affairs from inception of the scheme in 2008-09 till the end of the 11th Five Year Plan i.e. 31.03.2012. Giving this information in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Shri Vincent H. Pala, Minister of State for Minority Affairs, said that allocation for the Scheme during the current year has been increased by 50%, i.e. from Rs. 600 crore in 2011-12 to Rs. 900 crore in 2012-13 in order to cover more minority students under the Pre-matric Scholarship Scheme which also includes Muslim students.
