PM gives away awards to prominent scientists
The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on the occasion of inaguration of 97th Indian Science Congress gave Awards in 13 categories to 18 Scientists. The highest Indian Science award of Rs.25 lakhs has also been declared by Department of Science and Technology to be given to Dr. C R Rao, former Director of Indian Statistical Institute.The 18 awardees are Dr Rajinder Jeet Hans Gill,Chandigargh- Srinivasa ramanujan Birth Centenary Award; Prof.S M Chitre,Mumbai-M N Saha Birth Cenetary Award; Dr. Ganesh Prasd pandey,pune- P C Ray Memorial Award;Dr.Anilkumar,Pune-H J Bhawa Memorial Award;Prof. N K Gupta,New Delhi â J.C Bose Memorial Award; Dr. K Radahakrishnan, Chairman ISRO, Bangalore â Vikram Sarabhai Memorial Award; Dr. Lagli Shing, Director, Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology, Hyderabad â B.P.Lal Memorial Award; Dr. Gadagkar, Center for ecological Sciences, IISc, Bangalore & Dr. D.Datta, Scientific Officer (G), BARC, Mumbai â Millenium Plaques of Honour; Dr. Srikumar Banarjee, Chairman, AEC â Excellence in Science & Technology Award; Prof. R. Ramamurthi, Visiting Scientist, formally Vice chancellor, Sri Venkateswara University, Thirupathi â Prof. R.C.Mehrotra Memorial Life time Achievement Award; Prof. Sataya Deo, Harish â Chandra Research Institute, Allahabad â M.k. Singal Memorial Award; Dr. N.R.N.Murthy, IIS, Bangalore â CSIR Award, G.M. Ramachandran Gold Medal; Dr. A. Jayakrishnan,Vice Chancellor, Kerala University, Dr. T.K.
