The Government has sanctioned 3 Opencast Projects namely Bhubaneswari, Kaniha and Kulda of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited in Orissa to meet the growing demand for coal.
Bhubaneswari Project, Talcher Coalfields in Angul District with capital investment of Rs.336 crore will have the production capacity of 10 million tonnes (MT) per year and Kaniha in the same Coalfield with an investment of Rs.97 crore will have production capacity of 3.5 MT. 10 MT - Kulda in Ib Valley Coalfields of Sundergarh District will be commissioned with capital investment of Rs.302 crore.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Coal & Mines, Dr. Dasari Narayana Rao in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
