for Ministry of Railways | Date - 02-03-2005

The Indian Railways have announced opening of the new website www.claims.indianrail.gov.in,wherein one can file claims for losses, destruction, damage, deterioration or non delivery of goods, parcels from one’s own desk. This facility will be in addition to the already existing facility of approaching the Claims Office for filing of claims. All one needs is to access the new website and click on the link “register your claim” which would provide one the access to the claim registration form.

However, one is requested to send the following documents to the Chief Claims Officer of the destination railway within 15 days so that their registration through internet does not become invalid.

·         Railway receipt/PWB or luggage ticket in original

·         Original copy of shortage/damage, partial delivery   or     open delivery certificate, if given by the railway.

·         Beejuck or sale invoice of goods.

·         Authority from the consignee if claimant is the consignor

The new website accrues certain benefits which are :

·         To provide online information about the status of claims.

·         The relevant forms and policy instructions on settlement of claims can be downloaded from the website.

·         To reduce the duplication of claims.

·         The website contains contact numbers and address of the Claims Offices at all Zones and Divisions.

Mere registration of the claim on the website does not guarantee settlement of the claim unless it is followed by the requisite documents mentioned above.
