NKC recommendations for Higher and Primary Education

RAJYA SABHA

            The recommendations given by the National Knowledge Commission in respect of Higher and Primary education include :

Higher Education:

1.                   To create many more universities

2.                   To change  the system of regulation for higher education

3.                   To increase public spending and diversify sources of financing

4.                   To establish 50 National Universities

5.                   To reform existing universities

6.                   To restructure undergraduate colleges 

7.                   To promote enhanced quality

8.                   To ensure access for all deserving  students

Primary Education :

1.                   Planning for School Infrastructure

2.                   Enabling and regulating mechanisms for private schools

3.                   Database on school education

4.                   National Evaluation body for monitoring

5.                   Revamping school inspection

6.                   Teachers and teacher training

7.                   English language  teaching

            Some of the recommendations have already been included s proposals in the XIth Plan and some recommendations are under consideration.

 

This information was given by the Minister of State for Human Resource Development Smt. D. Purandeshwari  in a written reply in Rajya Sabha today.
