NHRC Report on Safety and Security of Youth

National Human Rights Commission has submitted a report on Missing Children and a study on HumanTrafficking with special focus on women and children which inter-alia, states that there is increase in number of crimes against children in the country.As per data complied by National Crime Records Bureau, Year-wise number of cases registered for crimes against children is as under :

It is for State Governments to take appropriate action in every crime.However, the reportof the NHRC has been circulated to all State Governments and However, Ministryof Women and Child Development is considering a comprehensive legislation to cover the offences against children to create a safe environment for children.

This was statedby Dr. Shakeel Ahmad, Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs, in written reply to a question inthe Lok Sabha today.
