More than 256 Lakh Tonne Rice Procured

The Government agencies have procured 2,56,08,056 lakh tonne rice during ongoing Kharif Marketing Season (KMS), 2012-13. As per data made available to the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, rice procured till Feb 15, 2013, during current KMS is 1,79,939 tonne more than the rice procurement of the corresponding period of the previous season.

Highest procurement has been made in Punjab, i.e. 85,56,984 tonne followed by Chattisgarh-45,37,299 tonne and Andhra Pradesh-32,38,069 tonne. Haryana-25,93,759 tonne and Odisha 22,20,528 also made significant procurement during the season.
