Minimum wages to Beedi workers in Orissa

Under the provision of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, the State Government of Orissa has notified the rates of minimum wages for unskilled beedi workers at Rs. 70/- per day with effect from May 1, 2007 as applicable throughout the State.

This information was given in the Rajya Sabha today by Shri Oscar Fernandes, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Labour and Employment, in a written reply to a question by Ms. Pramila Bohidar.
