The Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited (MECL), a public sector unit of the Ministry of Mines has carried out 99,603 meters (m) of drilling during the period April-October, 2005 against a target of 92,660 m and against 88,624 m during the same period last year. It carried out 4,481 m of developmental mining during the period against a target of 3,375 m and 3,535 m during the same period in the previous year.
During October 2005, the company carried out 648 m of developmental mining against a target of 530 m and 14,000 m of drilling against a target of 14,660 m.
