Media units to highlight achievements of government

At a meeting taken by the Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Shri Navin B. Chawla, it was decided that all media units including AIR, Doordarshan, DAVP, DFP, S&DD and Photo Division would be asked to coordinate and pool their resources for reaching the people in every corner of the country and inform them about progress of the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) by the Government.

All Central Ministries dealing with issues identified under Common Minimum Programme will be requested to indicate their priorities and thrust areas. This would facilitate evolving a multimedia strategy aimed at placing the achievements of the Government in proper prospective.

Ministry of I&B would by using multi media approach highlight their achievements in their priority areas under the CMP. The content would be provided by the concerned Ministries, while the delivery mechanism would be arranged by I&B through AIR, DD, DAVP, DFP, S&DD and Photo Division. It was also decided that the concerned Ministries would be requested to indicate a nodal officer/ contact persons in their Ministries for coordination purpose.

It was also decided that a separate report on the implementation of the CMP will be sent to the Cabinet Secretary and the Principal Secretary to the PM. The Information officers posted in the various Ministries would also be requested to procure weekly report on what their respective Ministries are doing under the CMP.

DD would produce 4.5 minutes programmes based on the progress reported by implementing Ministries on the thrust areas of CMP. They would focus on one theme for every week. The respective Ministries would indicate the focus areas and provide inputs and the programmes would be produced in-house by DD.

The Ministry has identified J&K and North-East as thrust areas for its projects to extend coverage of transmission by AIR and Doordarshan. The S&DD has also been directed to focus on border areas to promote national integration and communal harmony. Photo Division has also been asked to organized exhibitions on themes covering CMP.
