Train journey experience for passenger travelling between Mumbai and Goa has got more delightful with the two premium trains of Konkan Railway i.e. Mandovi Express and Konkankanya Express getting ISO 9001:2000 certificate recently and new On-Board Services introduced in these trains.
Konkan Railway has made considerable efforts in providing quality service to passengers in these trains. The catering which includes a very sumptuous fare of South Indian delicacies, Chinese etc. in these trains is a huge hit with the passengers. In doing so, Konkan Railway has made an effort to make the train journey as pleasant and blissful as the joy of reaching the destination. Recently, Konkan Railway has also introduced On-Board Services in these two trains. This includes providing liquid soap/tissue paper in toilets in AC coaches, spray air freshers in AC coaches, periodical cleaning of toilets during the journey in all coaches of the trains, mopping and sweeping of all coaches, use of disinfectants in toilets of all coaches and providing good quality toilet soap to confirmed passengers in 1AC and 2AC coaches.
The certificate, issued by QS Zurich AG, includes coaching maintenance (mechanical and electrical) along with Catering and Linen Service in these trains by Konkan Railway. The areas covered in ISO certification of coach maintenance are, top deck cleanliness, maintenance of passenger amenities in coaches and undergear safety equipment examination of the rakes. The agency inspected the trains over a period of seven months and checked the services being provided in these trains on international standard before awarding the certificate.
Kokan Railway had also received ISO 9001:2000 certification for Ratnagiri and Madgaon railway station in the last two years.
